Smelly feet one of the most embarrassing problems which can put you and the people around you in a sticky situation. The unbearable stench from your feet can be a deal breaker not just on a date but also at work. Your colleagues may start avoiding you as it can be difficult to work when one is surrounded with foot odour. But fret not, you now have remedies right in your kitchen counter to bid adieu to the unpleasant smell. Here are a few of them.
Baking soda banisher
Apart from helping your cake rise, baking soda can come in handy in helping you get rid of the foul odour from your feet. Simply take a small tub and fill it with warm water. Now add about two tablespoons of baking soda in it and a few drops of lime juice. Soak your feet in this for at least 10 minutes and then wipe them dry. Apply moisturiser on your feet if you find them too dry but make sure you do not walk barefoot after that. Do this weekly to reduce the odour.
Cornflour magic
It is used for thickening sauces or as a binding ingredient in various dishes but a little bit of it can be useful for your feet as well. You don't have to apply it on your feet but sprinkle a tablespoon of it in your shoes. What it does is absorb moisture from them and also your feet which will then prevent them from smelling.
Salt foot soak
Salt is generally found in almost all households. Make an inexpensive salt foot soak by adding salt in warm water and then dipping your feet in the same. It is a good idea to use rock salt or kosher salt which has large crystals in them as the regular salt could be too fine. You can wash your feet with cold water after this or rub ice cubes on them to prevent them from sweating excessively.
Apple cider vinegar
Another way to banish the smell from your feet is to soak them in apple cider vinegar. Fill a tub with water and then add about a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar. Soak your tootsies in this diluted solution for 10 minutes and then pat them dry.
Ginger rub
Ginger is a common cooking ingredient in Indian dishes. It lends a unique, fragrant flavour to food and has a host of health benefits. And you can use it to take the smell out of your feet. Simply grate a small piece and then take out its juice. Dab a cotton ball in it and then rub this on the soles of your feet. Let them soak it overnight and then wash your feet in the morning. This will help kill the bacteria.
Apart from these quick-fixes, you should also keep a few foot hygiene points in mind. Such as, wearing clean socks, letting your feet breathe by wearing good shoes. You can even spray your deodorant in your shoes to keep the odour away temporarily. These remedies will soon show their effects but if you the problem still persists, visit a skin specialist who can prescribe medication for the same.
