Baking your face might sound weird but it is a very popular makeup technique used by professionals. It is also called cooking your face, which again might sound ghastly but it isn't! It is basically letting your makeup bake for a perfect finish and make your skin look pore-less and even. It also helps in making the makeup stay longer on face (Of course, you could do that with a makeup setter spray, BUT that's again more chemicals on your skin!). Face baking is really easy and you don't have to use additional chemicals on your skin.
If you know contouring even a bit you'd know that its main intention is to highlight the high points of your face, and contouring parts you would want to hollow out. The technique of baking your face too revolves around the same lines. Here's the step-by-step guide to baking your face:
4)A concealer 1-2 shades lighter than your foundation
3) Translucent powder, or a setting powder 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone.
4) A large fluffy brush/ beauty blender
Here's what to do:
1) Apply moisturizer on your face and massage your face for a while.
2) Dab a pea-sized drop of primer and apply it too. This step is totally optional, you may, after applying the moisturizer, straightaway apply full-coverage foundation all over your face.
3)Take some concealer and with your finger dab it underneath your eyes and on your forehead in the shape of an upside down triangle, as well as on your chin and along the bridge of your nose.
4) Now with your large fluffy brush or an egg-shaped beauty blender, apply a generous amount of translucent or setting powder to the areas you concealed. Your aim here is to totally cover your face with translucent powder (you might, for a while, look scary!) so don't shy away with the amount.
5)This is where the real 'BAKING' takes place. You have to now let this powder sit for 15-20 minutes . During this time you can finish the rest of your makeup or maybe do your hair. After sometime, you'll see the powder absorbing the natural oil from your face(which would otherwise ruin your makeup!). This is when you know baking your face is successful.
6) Now take your large fluffy brush and very gently swipe off the excess powder on your face.
You're now done with baking your face. This amazing technique is very useful for the times you want your makeup to stay longer and look fresh all day. Try this at home and let us know how did you like it. (Also read:4 mistakes you could be making while applying foundation)
