Don t apply a thick coat of mascara on the tips of your lashes. It will weight them down eventually straightening them. For curled lashes, apply a thick coat near the roots by swinging your mascara brush back and forth and then apply a coat on the tips.
Warm up the eyelash curler before using it. This helps achieve a better result. The principle is same as that of hair curlers or hair straightening rods. Just ensure that the curler is warm and not hot. You can use a hair dryer to warm up the curler.
You can also apply a simple coat of petroleum jelly with the tip of your fingers to make the eyelashes look dense and moisturised. It enhances the colour of your eyelashes too if you don t want to use mascara every day. Read: How to enhance your eyes with fake eyelashes.
Apply the first coat of mascara and dust some baby powder on it. Finish with the second coat. This adds to the thickness of eyelashes without making them look clumpy. You can use a fresh and clean tooth brush on your eyelashes if the mascara looks too clumpy. Soaking the mascara tube in warm water is also a good way to make it liquid-y instead of clumpy.
Use a mascara before curling the lashes and follow it up with a waterproof mascara post curling. The dry effect of the waterproof mascara will help your curled lashes last longer. Also, curl one eyelash and then immediately apply mascara over it before you move to the next eye. Curls tend to straighten out immediately while you are curling the other one.
