It's Thursday night and you couldn't wait till Friday to binge watch the latest television series everyone has been raving about. So with just a ridiculous three hours of sleep, you drag yourself out of bed because you have to be at work in an hour. Lo and behold! Your face is swollen and your eyes are puffy. Apart from making you look like the living dead, puffy eyes also tends to add years to your face. But don't give up just yet. When you have tried all the tricks in the book and no amount of eye shadow or kajal can help obscure the bags under your eyes, try this little coffee trick to instantly enliven your face. Baggy eyes making you look tired? Here are 6 home remedies for you.

Why coffee you ask? For starters, coffee can accomplish a lot of things for you. It can make you sharper, help you lose that extra weight and if use it correctly, it can also help you grow hair in bald patches. Here's a recipe for coffee oil to regrow hair. But the cosmetic uses of coffee don't end there. It turns out you can tackle your sleep-soaked puffy eyes with a little help from our caffeine laden friend.

Back in the days, beauty magazines used to prescribe using used tea bags for tired eyes. For years, beauty gurus have been using caffeinated beverages like coffee and tea to get rid of under eye bags and facial bloating. The trick is not to drink them, but to apply them under the eyes for a while. The science behind the age-old beauty trick is that caffeine is a vasodilator, which relaxes the blood vessels.1 Not surprisingly, there are a lot of beauty and under eye creams in the market enriched with caffeine for the same reason.

To 'deflate' your puffy eyes, all you need is a teaspoon of fresh coffee powder and two teaspoons of hot water. Mix the two till they form a paste. Now simply apply the mixture under your eyes and keep it there for 10-15 minutes. The coffee paste will be grainy so avoid rubbing it into your under eye area. Since the skin there is very fine, the coarse paste will end up causing micro injuries to the delicate under eye skin. Alternatively, you could also use a mixture of coconut oil and coffee grounds for easy application.

Within moments, your puffy eyes will be relaxed and you will look fresher than before. As effective as the trick is, remember this is not a substitute for a good night's sleep and it should be done more than once or twice a week.
