The first thing you need to know to have beautiful, glowing skin is your skin type. Once you know that, it is easier to pick the right products suited for your skin and maintain it well over the years. A simple way to find this out at home is to try the tissue paper test recommended by Dr Jaishree Sharad, India s top cosmetic dermatologist, in her book Skin Talks . • Wash your face with a soap-free cleanser and pat dry.
  • Wait for an hour and then blot your face with a facial tissue.
  • Gently press it over your face and then remove it after a minute.
  • Now check the tissue to know your skin type.

If you have this skin type, the tissue will not stick to your skin and will be transparent. It won t have any traces of oil either. Try these face packs that work for normal skin.

Oily skin

If your skin type is oily, the tissue will stick to your face and you will be able to see oil patches when you hold it up to the light. The tissue will also become opaque.

Dry skin

The tissue will not have any sign of oil on it but your skin will feel dry and tight after you wipe your face with it. This means you have dry skin. Are these 10 things making your skin dry?

Combination skin

If the tissue shows traces of oil on the areas which match your T-zone such as your forehead, nose and chin, it means you have combination skin. Manage combination skin with these face packs.

Sensitive skin

If the tissue is still the same but your skin feels itchy and irritated after wiping it off, you most likely have sensitive skin. Here are some tips to manage sensitive skin.
