Argan oil is one of the biggest buzzwords in beauty. From making your skin glow to taming split ends, argan oil has many benefits for your skin and hair. With many brands in the market, you may find it difficult to pick the right one. Beauty expert Janet Fernandez from Marvie Ann Beck Academy shares tips to purchase good quality argan oil.
Ingredients: Check for the list of ingredients. It should be 100% argan oil (Argania Spinosa) without any fragrances, preservatives and even water. Argan oil combined with other ingredients degrades the effects of the oil so always get the purest form. Also, make sure that you buy a cold pressed one as it is most useful for hair. If your hair is frizzy, you can try making your own argan oil serum.
Price: Remember that argan oil is one of the most expensive oils available so do not expect to get it cheap. The price of the product may vary with the concentration of argan oil. Also, do not be fooled by expensive skincare brands that include argan oil at the bottom of ingredient list along with many other ingredients.
Packaging: Never buy argan oil stored in transparent plastic bottles as the light can break down the most valuable components in the oil. Always purchase the argan oil stored in dark glass bottle.
Smell: Argan oil has a mild nutty aroma, but the smell disappears minutes after contact with skin or hair. The best argan oil should not be deodorised as the deodorising process removes many nutrients from the oil. Also, avoid getting your hands on odourless oil as pure argan oil must have a nutty aroma.
Colour: Cosmetic argan oil should have a light golden yellow colour, but if the colour of the oil is too light it is likely that it is mixed with other oils.
Texture: Argan oil should be smooth and non-sticky and not too watery. It should have a soothing effect without leaving a residue when applied to the skin. If you are wondering if you should invest in Organix Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Weightless Healing Dry Oil, here is the product review.
