Yes! It is really easy to make your perfume at home. Why spend a fortune for expensive perfumes when you can actually create your own signature scent! It will be non-toxic and fresh but what is more exciting is that it'll be unique and completely YOURS! Let's begin:
You'll need:
Things you need to keep in mind:
Top Note: This scent will be your first impression and it will fade the quickest.
Middle Note: This is the major part of the scent .It will fade after a couple of hours.
Base Note: This will be the anchor to your perfume and will last the longest. The base note becomes more pleasing over time.
The creation (Blending):
After you have chosen your favourite fragrances from all three notes, fill in 1/4 th of the bottle with vodka(you may use flavoured vodka if you wish). Now, use a dropper to add the essential/fragrance oil slowly in a way that you take one scent add a few drops... stir... smell ...add more... and so on. Don't hurry, take your time. Give proper breaks to your nose otherwise after a while all smells will seem the same to you. (You may sniff coffee beans in between especially before sniffing a new scent to neutralise)
Keep in mind to maintain this ratio:
Base: 20%
Middle: 50%
Top: 30%
You can play around with different fragrances you please. The scent might seem strong, initially but don't worry about that. You need to pour a total of 30-40 drops of all essential oils together which will approximately be , 6-8 drops of base, 15-20 drops of middle, and 9-12 drops of top (Depending on how strong you want it to be)
Now you'll have to store it in a cool dark place for a while so that the fragrances fuse together well. This is a very important step if you want the real fragrance to emerge out. Store it for a minimum of 48 hours and then sniff it. You'll still find your fragrance strong add some glycerine around 5-6 drops and distilled water -around 3 tablespoons. The quantity of glycerine and distilled water totally depends on how much mild or strong you want your perfume to be. Glycerine will also act as a preservative.
Ta-da! You're holding your own signature scent! You may put it in a fancy spray bottle and label it with your name. Having your own customised perfume is a different feeling all together! Enjoy!
