Getting a manicure is one of the best relaxing beauty rituals I try to indulge in occasionally. Who doesn t like getting their nails perfectly shaped, cut, filed, cleaned, buffed and painted? The best part of the manicure for me is the perfectly coloured nails I get after it. But we all know how difficult it is to get the perfect, smooth finish on the nails when we colour nails at home. In fact, even removing the nail polish gets messy, especially when it s a dark coloured nail polish. Not all of us have the time to get a manicure or nails painted at parlours. So to get perfectly painted nails at home, I asked my nail spa beautician for a few nail polish hacks. I tried these at home and was pretty impressed with the results. Here are some nail polish hacks I think you should try to get perfect nails.
1) To remove nail polish: Apply petroleum jelly or a thick moisturiser on the skin around your nails. Take a cotton swab and dip it in nail polish remover. In one gradual stroke, wipe off the nail polish gently. Wipe it once more if some colour remains on the nail. There will be very little or no colour on the skin around your nails. Here is how you can remove nail polish without acetone.
2) While applying nail polish: If you are like me and can t apply nail polish without creating a mess, try this method. Take a cotton bud and dip it in glue. Then apply it on the skin around your nails. Let it dry. Now, apply the nail polish as you usually do. After applying nail polish, scrape the glue off. Your nails will be perfectly painted without any nail polish outside the nail bed.
3) After applying nail polish: This tip is going to sound a bit weird. But it really works. After you colour your nails, let semi-dry. Then dip your nails in cold water for about 10 seconds. Then let it dry naturally. This sets the colour and makes the nail polish dry quickly.
