Restylane s Refyne and Defyne (for smile and laugh lines): Nowadays, fillers containing hyaluronic acid are available as variable formulations as different facial areas and aging issues require different types of fillers. Hence, there are fillers ranging from thin to thick fillers, that are smooth to hydrate the skin, fill up the fine lines and thicker fillers to contour and refill the midface and other deficient areas. Restylane s Refyne and Defyne is a range of fillers that fall in this spectrum. Refyne is a little thinner or softer than Defyne. ReFyne is used to treat fine lines and Defyne is used for facial areas that animate such as laugh lines and marionette lines. These products work by using a patented cross-linking technology called XpresHAn. Due to this patented technology, the facial areas of animation can move naturally without showing signs of filling done. The range of fillers is decided by a certified dermatologist depending on your facial concern. So, ensure a proper consultation to decide the appropriate product for your face. Exploring the latest Melania makeover: Melania makeover is actually a makeover done for looking like Melania, the FLOTUS of USA. Certain ladies in the US and Europe are inspired by her looks and are trying to replicate it through various aesthetic procedures. It can involve a series of procedures such as breast reduction, liposuction, tummy tuck and Brazilian butt lift for the body. In the face, Botox is done for upper face frown lines and crow`s feet, high intensity focused ultrasound for jowl tightening, dermal fillers like Juvederm for mid and lower face reshaping and contouring and finally lasers and peels for textural changes and giving an even, smooth and glowing skin. What makes the volumetric or three-dimensional face-lift unique? Till a few years ago, ageing problems were treated in a two-dimensional manner and the results were not satisfactory. In recent times, dermatologists have a newer understanding of facials, ageing and newer treatments are evolved by them. The basis of a three-dimensional facelift is to correct the problems at all layers of facial skin. This involves strengthening the muscle layer and resolving fat deposits of the face by Hi-intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) technology, relaxing the dynamic lines by Botox and replenishing the volume loss and removing fine lines with dermal hyaluronic fillers. This in combination gives a more 360degree and 3-dimensional lift and all the procedures are non-surgical and can be done in lunch time.

Isolagan: Isolagan treatment is a new, developmental treatment that is still in nascent stage and not yet available in India. In this procedure, the patient`s own collagen is taken to develop in the laboratory. Then it is injected back into the patient lines and wrinkles. The procedure involves taking a small skin biopsy from behind the ear and few stitches are given at the biopsy site. This is not yet a proven therapy and its results are yet to be seen.

The golden ratio: Drawing on the mathematical principles of Phi (otherwise known as The Golden Ratio - a precise distancing of the features of an object, making it 'beautiful'), a new sort of (non-surgical) facelift has been developed. As per works of Leonardo Di Vinci, the mathematical principles of Phi are used to achieve the perfect proportions for any shape including the human body. When a face is designed according to the Golden Ratio, it achieves the universal definition of perfect beauty. In this new facelift, the facial measurements are taken and then the dermal fillers are planned according to the Phi principle. With this technique, the face is given a more attractive look by subtle placement of dermal fillers. Read here non-surgical ways to enhance your face shape according to a cosmetic surgeon

The 24 Hour boob job: The 24-hour Boob job is a temporary technique of increasing the breast size by a cup or two that lasts only for 24 hours. This can be done just before a party or an event to enhance the breasts. In this procedure, normal saline is injected in the breasts for plumping on the day of an event and by morning the results disappear with the breasts deflating to original shape. It s not advisable as it can change the breast architecture and cause skin laxity.

Macrolane or lunch-time boob job procedure: Macrolane is a stabilized hyaluronic filler designed for body contouring and filling. It is injected into breasts, buttocks and other body areas that need plumping and augmentation. It is popularly known as the lunchtime boob job as a person, desiring fuller breasts but apprehensive of surgery, can get this procedure done in 30 mins under local anaesthesia and go back to work immediately. There might be soreness and discomfort for few days but it settles down quickly. The procedure uses stabilized hyaluronic acid injected in areas that require fullness and increase in volume by the physician after giving local anesthesia in the areas to be treated. The fillers take up the shape of the breast area and gradually plump it up. However, this filler is not available in India and globally it is currently discontinued due to its multiple, worrisome side effects. The radiologists also had difficulty in conducting proper mammograms in breast injected with Macrolane.
