Don t be shocked if you thought only women lined up at the cosmetic clinics to get that perfect lips, bosom and butt. Men are no less. Vanity goes beyond the gender divide and men today are more conscious about their look just like women. So the alpha male leaves no stone unturned to look chic, stylish and as you say to be the man about town. Don t believe us? Dr Vinod Vij, Cosmetic Surgeon, Fortis Hospital, Navi Mumbai lists some of the most sought after cosmetic procedure preferred by men these days.
1. Liposuction for gynaecomastia Gynaecomastia is defined as enlargement of man boobs. This procedure is opted among men aged 18 to 30. True, no man wants to live with man boobs. It doesn t look good on them. So a cosmetic procedure done to remove the enlargement is necessary. Often a liposuction and subsequent gland removal are done to get rid of the excess mass on the chest. It is a minimally invasive day care procedure.
2. Blepharoplasty or eyelid rejuvenation This procedure is often opted by men in their 40s and 50s. If you thought dark circles, bulging eyes, lateral brows were a concern for women, men detest this too. Loose hanging furrowed skin, bulging fat pads below the eyelids with accentuated tear troughs put forth the image of fatigue and makes them look aged. And men know nobody wants to team up with a man looking dull and lost. Aren t eyes supposed to be the most attractive feature? Then eyelid rejuvenation is the answer for attractive orbs. Surgery to restore upper eyelids which look droopy and a procedure for lower eyelids where excess fat is removed are the most sought after surgeries. Once excess fat is extracted from lower eyelids, the tissue is positioned over the cheeks to eliminate tear trough. Combined with skin and muscle tightening, this procedure provides a fresh and vibrant appearance.
3. Neck lift Men hate turkey neck. No, seriously they are bothered how they would look in a shirt and tie combination. But hanging skin around the jaw line without excess fat makes one look prematurely aged and not-so-handsome. A neck lift is usually an answer to this problem. This is also an out-patient procedure that helps to improve visible signs of ageing from the jaw and neckline. Restores lose neck skin by extracting excess fat from the lower portion of the face that creates jowls and that from the chin.
4. Rhinoplasty or nose surgery If eyes, neck and chest could be a matter of concern for men then why not the nose. A disproportionate nose can ruin a god looking face. 5. Liposuction to get rid of belly fat A procedure like liposuction has many variations and one of them is body contouring. However, liposuction isn t a procedure that is given preference over diet and exercises (the right ways to lose weight). However, if a man had significant inch loss with exercises and needed toning and shaping liposuction can be the answer. The abdominal area can be shaped, to provide a sleeker frame. It s a safe surgery and easily recovered. Normally, patients can return to work in a day or two. Final results take between six weeks and two months to observe the full effect of the reshaping.
6. Hair transplant A common procedure opted by men suffering from male pattern baldness. Most procedures give good results and help a man get back his vanity and pride with less pain and in just a few weeks of time. Procedure like FUE and FUT are equally popular and give tremendous result.
