Valentine's Day make-upPlanning a special date with your loved one on Valentine's Day? Stun them with your bold and riveting looks. Aakriti Kochar, beauty and make-up expert of Oriflame India, puts together a few Valentine's Day make-up looks that will unravel your inner beauty.

For eyes: Opt for smoky eyes look, chiselled cheeks and nude lips if going out in the evening. (Did you know cat-eye make-up is back in vogue?) Add a dash of gloss to complete this glamorous look. Depending on one's outfit, the colour used to highlight the eyes should either be a dark chocolate brown or charcoal grey. This look reflects boldness in one's attitude, so for those who want to stand out this is a must-try. Tying one's hair up in a loose bun-up do for this kind of a look is also recommended to compliment the glitter in one's eyes.

For a perfect pout: For a very sophisticated, subtle look, go for a dark black eyeliner and a bright lip colour. Choose from a range of reds, pinks, coral reds. A sleek ponytail goes very well with the look. One can accentuate their features and be ready for a dinner or an evening party in minutes. Read how to be a party diva in minutes!

For the day look: For a softer look during the day, one should opt for eyeshadows in softer shades and a little blush in coral colours. Peach and pink are the most favoured colours when it comes to blushes. Learn how to pick the right blush for your skintone. For the lips, tinges of soft pink with gloss are the way to go. Add lots of mascara to highlight the eyes. With a soft look like this, leave your hair loose in soft, big curls or waves and probably twist it around on one side. For those who do not want to flash their tresses, a fish tail braid with a soft make-up look is also a good choice.

For the cheeks: Bronzed cheeks compliment bronze eyeshadow more than any other. Add a little black eyeshadow on outer corners and adorn it with a little smudged eyeliner. Top it up with lots of mascara to give a dramatic, sizzling look. Opt for a coloured lip gloss in pink, brown or coral to complete the look. Bronze guarantees a scorching, glamorous look. To add to the glamour quotient, one can leave their hair open and flaunt soft waves or curls.

If you are wondering how to get the perfect smoky eyes, here's what you can do:

  • First, apply a thin coat of eye primer. It helps to make eye make-up last longer. Start from the eyelids all the way up under your eyebrow.
  • Choose the lightest shade of eyeshadow and apply it evenly on your eyelids.
  • Then move onto a darker shade. Work at the top of your lid by using your finger to blend it evenly.
  • Next, apply a dark eyeliner for the top lids. Blend it into the bottom lids for a smoky look.
  • Finish the look by applying a eyelash volumising mascara. You could also curl your lashes if you wish. Also read these tips to get longer, thicker eyelashes.

Tips to choose the right lip colour. These will help conceal yellowing teeth.

Sheer pink: A hydrating, see-through gloss with a hint of a berry (versus orange-y versions like coral) counteracts subtle yellowing.

Light pink: Bolder than sheer glosses, these matte rose shades have just the right blue undertone to minimise yellowish tinges on teeth.

Bright pink: Whether bubble gum or fuchsia, these electric blue-based colours dramatically brighten, says Edward Cruz, a New York-based make-up artist.

Bright red: Bold, opaque reds can make teeth appear up to two shades whiter, Nemes says. Apply two layers straight from the tube for a more intense effect.

Deep red: It's little surprise that the classic femme fatale colour creates the ultimate sexy smile. Apply with your finger for a lasting stain-like finish.
