South Indians are blessed with long, thick and black hair but with dull, dry, frizzy waves the hair type comes with its sets of problems. Every coil and every ringlet come with a handle with care notice. However, following these tips by hair stylist, Janet Fernandez can make your locks manageable. Remember these are not like your diet rules, so no cheating allowed.

  1. We are not saying that you should not shampoo but not lathering up too many times in a week can be a way to get soft, manageable and bouncy curls. Do not shampoo more than once a week. As an alternative, just rinse your hair with a conditioner not to dry it up.
  2. Your hair could be naturally dry, so ensure that you do not skip the conditioner when you shampoo your hair. A good conditioner will help restore the moisture to your hair and also make the detangling of hair easy. Try using these natural hair conditioners.
  3. Raise your hands if you tie your hair into a frizz ball with a towel after shampoo. Doing this can make your hair all the more unmanageable. Instead, use a T-shirt to squeeze the water out of your hair without messing up your strands.
  4. Never comb your hair when it is dry as it can be a surefire way to cause breakage and damage. A good way to de-tangle your hair is to take a wide-toothed comb to the shower and tame the tangles when it is wet and saturated with a conditioner. Follow these tips to comb your hair the right way.
  5. Incorporate oil massage at least once a week in your hair care regime. Opt for coconut, almond, castor and olive oil to nourish your locks and make them look less frizzy. Do not use hair serums as it can only make the matter worse for you. Jawed Habib shares tips to oil your hair the right way.
  6. Trim your hair at least once in two months. Just because your waves cover up your split ends doesn t mean that you don t have them. Damaged hair tips can increase the tangles in hair and also stunt hair growth.
  7. It may take some time for you to determine which hair product suits your unique hair type. Have patience. Test a few products available in the market and settle for the one that gives you the best hair day ever.

These tips are only meant to make your hair look lustrous and beautiful. There is beauty in every hair type, and we believe it looks damn good on you.
