Our nails are regularly subjected to thick coats of nail paint, excessive exposure to water, and dirt that is harmful and unhygienic for our nails. Often, dryness can cause them to chip off and turn yellow leading to unwanted infections. It is best to ditch the chemicals and treat nails with natural and home remedies to improve their condition.

Almond oil is a natural way to restore your nail health. This oil carries essential antioxidants and nutrients from vitamin E, A, B1, B2, B6. With every almond oil massage, the nail is coated with protection from nail peeling, cracking, dryness and breakage. Additionally, applying almond oil works against wrinkles and ageing skin, it is also a natural moisturising agent. Lemon is another ingredient that would benefit your cuticles and the skin around it and improve its complexion. Lemon contains citric acid that possesses bleaching or whitening properties.

Steps: In a bowl, take 1 spoon of almond oil and add some lemon juice to it, mix this well. You could either directly massage this on your hands or soak your hands into this mixture for not more than 2 minutes. Or you could apply and rub it over your nails with a cotton ball just like you do for a nail polish remover. Once you are done with its application, leave it on overnight. You will see that this remedy also works as that transparent coat of nail paint but with a natural sheen. Read about how almond oil can do wonders for your hair and skin.

To trace back to the root cause of brittle and weak nails we should understand our daily habits that are not doing us good. Constant use of chemical-based and harsh soaps and sometimes lotions could be deteriorating the quality of your nails too. Nail paint removers and hardeners tend to weaken the cuticles. Also, beware of the products and tools used every time you go in for pedicures and manicures. Hygiene is a must and should not be overlooked. Here are some more tips for healthy nails.
