For me, I have always struggled to keep my hair looking healthy and shiny. I am one of those unlucky people who have extremely dry and frizzy hair but also an oily scalp. If I go without washing my hair for more than two days in a row, my hair becomes limp and dry. So when I saw that Garnier has reintroduced the ultra blend paraben free shampoos, I knew I had to try it out and see if it can actually help in improving my hair's texture or not. Garnier released four different ultra blends shampoos and after giving some thought into which one I wanted to try out first, I settled for the henna and blackberry shampoo and conditioner. You can add shine to your dry hair with these home made hair packs.

The shampoo promises nourish your hair and add an incredible shine, something I need desperately! After all, henna is commonly used in India to nourish one's hair and scalp. Blackberry is also well known for being rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. The shampoo and conditioner is easily available in most beauty and grocery stores.

The Trial

The shampoo and conditioner are in translucent bottles and are surprisingly reasonable. The shampoo costs Rs 120 and the conditioner is Rs 170 which makes it cheaper than other Garnier or Loreal shampoos. The cap of the bottles are marked with the shape of a leaf at the opening and the bottles are easy to use and since they close tightly, it makes it easy to carry them while travelling as well. The shampoo is light purple in colour and in the form of a gel. I first used a small amount on my scalp and realised it is very mild, so had to use more shampoo than I usually do to wash off the hair oil. However, it has a pleasant smell.

My Review

The shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling soft and silky and even added some volume to my thin hair. Here are easy ways to make your hair look thicker. In fact, my colleague also complimented me on how soft my hair looked for a change. The only con of this shampoo is that it is far too mild. This means, if you have an oily scalp like mine, you won't get that squeaky clean feeling after you are done washing your hair. Especially during monsoon, when the humidity is at an all-time high, this shampoo might not be very helpful in getting rid of excessive oiliness in the scalp. However, if you have a dry scalp, this shampoo might suit you better. You could try these home remedies to prevent limp hair in monsoons.

My rating: 3.5/5
