Getting your curly hair straight can require a lot of blow dryer and flat iron. But while you may think you are a pro at styling your hair, according to beauty expert Janet Fernandez you could be making a few mistakes while you flat iron your hair. Are you guilty of any of these?
You don t rinse off the conditioner well: If you see smoke appearing when you put a flat iron to your hair, it is probably because you did not rinse all that conditioner well from your curls. So make sure that you rinse your hair thoroughly before you leave the shower.
You make large sections while ironing: You need to section your hair to ensure that your hair is dry. While larger sections might seem ideal for saving time, working with smaller sections will ensure that your hair is dry from the roots to the ends.
You blow dry in the wrong direction: You may often end up blow drying in the wrong direction. You must use a downward motion on the back and side of your hair and blow dry in an upward and back motion on the crown of your hair. Here are 6 hair straightening methods for curly hair people.
You skip the comb: You always need to use a rat-tailed comb under your flat iron to keep your hair detangled else you will end up getting that limp, lifeless look. Here are 5 uses of the rat-tail com you didn't know.
You use too much product: Using too much serum or your favourite finishing oil can make your satin-soft mane go oily. For a healthy glossy shine, just lightly mist your favourite shine serum a few inches away from your hair.
You avoid dry shampoo: Dry shampoo is key to keep your hair fresh throughout the week after a blow dry session. So try and use the dry shampoo after once you style your hair so that your hair remains that way for a longer time.
