The demand for male grooming and aesthetic procedures for them is increasing by the day. Men are now willing to undergo the beautification process and take care of their skin as much as women do. At the National Skin Centre Delhi, they have several male clients signing up for facials and clean ups. Many couples sign up for pre-wedding packages to look the best on their D day. says Dr Taneja.
The skin and structure in case of males is different from that of females so are the treatments. Their skin is different thicker, more sebaceous and hairy so aesthetic dermatologists need to titrate the aesthetic procedure as per the male skin type, sensitivity, complaints and desire. The aesthetic facial procedures for skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing procedures are more or less same in male and females but the dose, the material used chemical or organic peel concentration, laser energy and intensity, Botox and fillers are entirely different since the skin demands a different kind of attention. Males usually come with complaints of wrinkles, acne scarring, accidental marks, laser treatments for rejuvenation, chemical peels etc. All these can be treated and handled after consultation with a good dermatologist.
Following are some of the beauty treatments for males suggested by Dr Navin Taneja, Dermatologist, Venereologist and Director of National Skin Centre, Delhi.
Dermal fillers are materials that are frequently used to correct scarring, wrinkles, and other depressions in the skin. The new generation Injectable includes Restylane, Perlane, Juviderm ultra, Juviderm ultra plus and Juviderm XC. These fillers can be injected into lines and wrinkles, as well as depressions for acne scars. They are well tolerated and the results are immediate.
Botox is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle causing muscles, creating a rejuvenated appearance. Botox can help removing vertical frown lines between eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines, crow s feet at the outer corner of the eyes, lines at the root of the nose (bunny lines).
A chemical peel is a treatment in which an organic/fruit acid solution is used to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin .Typically administered as a facial peel, a chemical peel enhances and smoothes the texture of the skin. It is an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation.
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is the painless injection of vitamins, minerals, medications, and amino acids placed in the dermis (just below the surface of the skin) unlike other medical treatment. Mesotherapy has a variety of applications including cellulite reduction, face & body contouring, hair re-growth, face & neck rejuvenation and face lift.
Phototherapy or light therapy is a form of treatment for skin conditions using artificial light. Phototherapy is an excellent way of improving your look by softening wrinkles, pigment stains and other signs of ageing.
Lasers are now available that can quickly remove the outer layer of the skin. The laser causes tightening of the skin, which leads to smoothening and clearing of brown spots and large pores. Lasers also can improve wrinkles, fine lines, forehead creasing and crow's feet.
Dark circle treatment
If you re dark circles are due hyper pigmentation on a superficial level (in the top most layers of the skin, then a mild chemical peel or creams that contain lightening agents) can be applied or you can consult your aesthetic dermatologist and he will tell you which treatment will give you pleasing results after checking your dark circles and history behind your dark circles.
