It's that time of the year when you can pull out some scarves, stockings, trendy jackets and layer up for the winter season. Winter brings with it the comfort of cosy knitwear. However, if you are a little skeptical about experimenting with different clothing styles and knitwear because of your curvy frame, here is how you can make these styles work for your body type:

Jumpers

You can blindly wear a jumper just before you step out for the day as it suits almost everyone. A jumper or a cardigan would keep you warm through the long hours at work or even when you plan an outing. This type of clothing could work for you if you choose thin knits and not something too bulky. If you like loose fits then ensure your pants or bottom wear is rather tight-fitted like a pair of leggings, jeggings or pants. You could stick to shades like black, brown, beige, navy and olive.

Knitwear tunics

Apart from using knitwear as jumpers and sweaters you could also look trendy by wearing a tunic. Wear a tunic style which favours your curves. A pattern with a defined waistline would show the best of your curves. In combination, wear a darker coloured jacket.

Dresses with coats

Winter is all about layering. Pick a lacy or heavy fabric dress with an A-line pattern and team it up with a darker colour jacket, trench coat or even a knit shrug. This style would give proportion to your body type. For a sporty and fun look, zip up a sweatshirt on a dress. You could opt for one in a bold, deep colour or for a motif sweatshirt. Here are different ways of wearing a sweatshirt.

Pencil skirts with layers

For a professional environment, look for a well-fitted pencil skirt that would highlight your curves. Skip any bold or big prints as this would unnecessarily draw too much attention to that area. Stick to block colours and fine prints wherever possible. For the skirt, use a sleek belt and not a big-buckled one. Tuck in a shirt or a basic T-shirt and team this up with a waist-length jacket. For a semi-casual attire, team it up with a nice, soft coloured jumper or sweater. To hide your love handles, know what type of clothing suits best.

You could also wear knit shawls in pastel shades like baby pink, mint green, blue or even one in a coffee brown shade. However, ensure these are not enlarging your body shape in any way. You could simply tie a knit-scarf around your neck for a neat look.

Black and burgundy colours

It's true that dark colours work wonders for a broad physique. Use this to your benefit and team up black with burgundy every time you are in a fix. For a change, wear a deep red or burgundy shade of pants or leggings. You can also experiment with deep purple. Or use this combination in your accessories. A burgundy knit scarf would look elegant. As for footwear, look for oxfords, heel shoes or a good pair of boots in burgundy. Here is how you can hide large thighs with the right clothing.

All black with fancy shoes

Don't be under the impression that winter wear could only be about neutrals and basic colours. You could break that monotony with some fun prints in your footwear. If your staple style is to stick to one colour throughout, then wear a printed pair of stylish shoes. The oxford shoes are a winter classic keeping the feet warm. Animal prints would give a whole new definition to such a style, but you could play with some polka dots for a vintage feel. If you are unable to find a printed pair of flats, pep up the look with a bright colour like a coral pink or orange, ocher. Try patent leather footwear styles in red.
