The Ministry of Ayush in a recent study underscored the neuroprotective effects of ashwagandha against neurogenerative diseases including Alzheimer's, Huntington's and Parkinson's Disease. Both the Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease are a brain disorder affecting the functions of brain and leading to memory loss, confusion, difficulty speaking and muscle stiffness, tremor and trouble sleeping, respectively.

The study conducted by the Ministry of Ayush highlights the role of ashwagandha on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Ashwagandha is a powerful herb rich in antioxidants. It has been used as an ayurvedic medicine for its many health benefits and healing effects against chronic disease. In its study speaking of the effects of ashwagandha on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, the Ministry of Ayush said, "The protective effects of Ashwagandha were accomplished by restoring mitochondrial and endothelial function, mitigation of apoptosis, inflammation and oxidative stress mechanisms."
