Weight loss post pregnancy is a major concern for most women. When should one start losing weight post delivery? Will it affect the baby’s health if you are breastfeeding and are on a weight loss regimen? There are so many myths around losing weight post pregnancy that one gets confused! ‘While it is important to rest after delivery, you can actually start working out three-four days after your delivery. It is more beneficial if you start working out early’, says Roshini Gilbert, director of fitness and services at HealthifyMe. Here are 5 exercises that you can do with your baby to lose weight.
Roshini is a mother of triplets (she doesn’t look like one, though!) who had a tough pregnancy. She lost around 30 kgs after she delivered her babies. Roshini, along with Pragya Bhatt, senior yoga coach at HealthifyMe, busts some very popular myths and states some facts about losing weight after pregnancy, like while people suggest that you should avoid exercising while you are pregnant, you shouldn’t miss workouts unless your doctor has advised so. You also need to get the right weight loss regime in place, since your body changes during and after pregnancy. Start with breathing exercises and few simple stretches before you move on to hardcore exercises. There are many yoga asanas like vajrasana, malasana, padmasana and baddha konasana that help ease childbirth and help you have a healthy pregnancy.
