Medical Council Of India

The Medical Council of India is country’s statutory body whose main aim is to maintain the high standards of medical education in the country. It was set up by Indian Medical Council Act 1933 and was later reconstituted by an act of the same name in 1956. The MCI was dissolved in 2010 after its president Dr Ketan Desai was arrested on charges of corruption, it was run by a Board of Governors for three years and now elections will again be held in October.
