Milk: In addition to drinking eight glasses of water every day, breastfeeding women should include a glass of milk in the diet. It is a great source of calcium and helps you to keep your fluid intake in control.
Methi seeds: Ever wondered why breastfeeding women are advised to eat methi seeds in the form of ladoos? Well, because fenugreek not only keeps your glucose levels in control but also increases the production of breast milk and its supply.
Edible gum (Gondh): Gondh ke ladoos are popular in North India as lactating food because it is believed to increase break milk supply. You can add gur (jaggery), gondh and nuts to make the ladoos, which are tasty and healthy for breastfeeding women.
Ghee: Who said ghee is not healthy? It helps in improving the production of breast milk and aid in digestion. So make sure you eat at least two teaspoons of ghee every day.
Sesame seeds (Til): These seeds are loaded with calcium, which is good for the bones and also improves the production of breast milk. You can include til in your diet either in the form of ladoo (sesame and jaggery), chutney (garlic and sesame ) or simply add the seeds in curries.
