Just like grown-ups, yoga can be an excellent way for kids to increase focus, reduce stress and improve overall health. Here are a few yoga poses recommended by yoga expert Abhishek Sharma that your children will love. Any child above five years can perform these poses.
The happy baby pose isn’t just fun, but it’s very beneficial for the smooth running of the digestive system. It is a very relaxing pose that stretches the hamstrings while massaging the internal organs and the back.
The downward dog pose is a favourite among children. It stretches the tight areas like the thighs and the hamstrings and improves blood flow. Children should hold this pose for three-five breaths and repeat it for five times so that it becomes more of an aerobic exercise.
The upward facing dog is an excellent pose for improving posture and opening up the chest. It also stretches and strengthens the spine. Just make sure that your child takes deep breaths in and out while in the pose.
The sandwich pose is a variation of seated forward bend in adults and is great to calm down anxious and restless kids. It is also an excellent yoga pose to improve their concentration. Your child needs to hold this pose for three-five seconds and then repeat.
Child’s pose is an easy yoga pose that is going to help calm down your child. The kid needs to hold this pose for four-five seconds and take slow, deep breaths.
The butterfly pose is another fun pose for kids that engages the muscles of the thighs and lower back. Children can join their feet and flap their legs while in the pose. They should hold this pose for three-five breaths and then repeat.
