Most of us do research before buying oils to look for heart protection. However, it is important to check your oil intake and choose the best of the lot when it comes to dealing with diabetes. Dietician and Nutrition Educator, Neha Chandna, lists few oils that people suffering from diabetes should include in diet.
Olive oil: Not just for a healthy heart, olive oil is good for people suffering from diabetics. This is because it enhances insulin sensitivity and improves blood glucose level by lowering triglycerides. Moreover, it also lowers the risk of heart disease.
Coconut oil: The health benefits of coconut oil for hair and skin are well-known but have you ever thought that it could be healthy for diabetics? Coconut oil is rich in MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) which are easily metabolised and digested, hence they do not contribute to the fat load.
Rice bran oil: Include rice bran oil in your diet as it has cholesterol-lowering properties. Moreover, it is also a great source of antioxidants, which improve immunity, boost energy levels and also protect the heart.
Blended oil: If not specific oils, then you can opt for a blend of oils as it not only offers heart protection but also improves overall health. Blend oils provide a mixture of fatty acids, which help in the absorption of proper fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D and E.
