Spearmint tea: Spearmint belongs to the mint family, but is not the same as peppermint. It’s prized for its flavour, scent and medicinal properties, one of which is its anti-androgenic effect . As we know, excess androgens like testosterone in the body are one of the causes of acne. Many who sipped on spearmint tea noticed a reduction in their hormonal acne.
Green tea: Good old green tea is also good for fighting acne. The antioxidant-rich tea is also full of antimicrobial qualities . Sipping on green tea 2-3 times a day will help in banishing those pesky pimples that up when you least expect them. If the taste doesn’t fascinate you, you can also apply green tea directly on your skin. It can curb sebum production and fight pimple-causing bacteria.
Chamomile tea: Chamomile is known for its calming properties. Those suffering from stress breakouts should avail of its calming, sleep inducing effects. Apart from that, chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties which help in suppressing inflammatory acne.
Sappan wood tea: Sappan wood or pathimugham can be procured from Kerala Ayurvedic stores or any store that stocks products from Kerala. The shavings of the sappan wood tree bark are added to water and brewed till the water acquires a pleasing pink colour.
