After years of acne as a teenager, there is no better feeling than having clearer skin in your mid to late 20’s. You can finally look in the mirror and not feel self conscious about how red your cheeks look because of pimples. However, you’re unable to understand why your skin keeps breaking out in pimples randomly for a few days. While the redness and skin inflammation subsides within a day or two and your skin looks clear again, you’re quite annoyed about your recurring skin breakouts. These are the four possible causes you should know about.
You’re consuming more milk: There's no doubt that drinking milk has its own set of health benefits but studies have found that it can aggravate acne . So if you are prone to breakouts, cut down your milk consumption.
You made drastic diet changes: Diet plays a major role in your skin's health. So if you have recently made any changes to your diet, it could be the reason why your skin is acting out. Dr Navin Taneja, Dermatologist and Cosmetologist & Director of National Skin Centre, New Delhi, says that having foods with high glycemic index, stress dieting and an erratic lifestyle can take a direct toll on your skin and cause further breakouts.
Changes in the weather: If there have been climate fluctuations, your skin is definitely going to get affected. Whenever the mercury levels rise after a drop in the temperature, it can result in increased oil production which causes acne, says Dr Taneja.
You are following a wrong beauty regime: Your oil massage or might be doing wonders for your skin, but if you apply too much oil, your skin is going to get irritated and breakout in pimples, warns Dr Taneja. Also, if you're using the wrong make-up and skincare products that clog your pores, it will cause skin irritation. Consult your dermatologist to find what suits you best.
