One of the most common skin problems we face, after acne, is large pores. These open pores are clearly visible and make you look older even if you don’t have any wrinkles. Other than that, open pores can also make you more prone to acne and other skin irritations. While you could opt for expensive laser skin treatments, I instead tried these 10 home remedies that will help in tightening your skin and closing those open pores for a few hours if used regularly.
Vitamin E: Take a few vitamin E capsules and puncture holes into them with a safety pin or needle. Empty the oil into your ice tray. You won’t need more than four ice cubes, so three to four capsules should suffice. You can use these vitamin E ice cubes on your face before going to bed or even stepping out of your house. Rub the ice cubes on your face for a few minutes and you will notice how the pores on your face start shrinking rapidly.
Tomato juice: Cut tomato slices and gently rub it on the areas of your face with the most open pores. Allow the juice to dry completely before washing it off with cold water. Tomato juice will also help in de-tanning your skin other than shrinking those large pores.
Steam: You need not go to a beauty parlour for pampering your skin. Try out steaming to cleanse your skin and close open pores every week. This will also help in clearing out pimples to an extent.
Sandalwood: Make some sandalwood paste and apply a thin layer over your forehead, cheeks, nose and other problem areas. Allow it to dry before washing your face with cold water.
Milk: Applying cold and raw milk on your face with a cotton ball is also a great way to tackle large, open pores. The cold milk will soothe and moisturise your skin which will make your open pores less visible.
Rose water: You can use rose water in your sandalwood paste or just spray your face with cool rose water at regular intervals throughout the day to reduce the size of your open pores. Rose water acts as a natural toner and astringent so you need not rely on harsh and expensive toners.
Baking soda: Mix around 2 tablespoons of baking soda in water and gently massage your face with it in circular motions for five minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
Chamomile or green tea: Both of these teas help in tightening your skin and shrinking open pores. You can use a cotton ball to apply the refrigerated tea to your face or directly dab your face with the tea bags.
Gramflour: This is a common Indian home remedy for many skin conditions. You can add a few drops of lemon juice and one tablespoon of curd or yogurt to a gramflour and apply this mask. Allow this face pack to dry completely before rinsing your face. As far as possible, avoid using hot water on your face as that will only increase the number of open pores on your face.
Aloe vera: Another popular home remedy for skin and hair problems. You can cut open a portion of the aloe vera plant and gently rub your face with it. You could also remove the aloe vera gel and apply it on your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing your face.
