Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar has shared a few tips on her Facebook Page on how to prevent hair loss during this season with affordable and easily-available foods.
Curd/dahi: Another ingredient you must include in your diet is dahi or curd for its mineral content and probiotic bacteria. Be it having in the form of raita along with vegetables or drinking a glass of freshly prepared buttermilk; curd is good for the hair and overall health.
Methi seeds: Add it to some warm coconut oil, let it cool, then massage your scalp and leave overnight. You can also add these seeds to kadhi, khichdi, veggies like pumpkin or to your raita. The methi dana is especially useful if it's a hormonal issue related hair loss (PCOD, etc) as it helps improve insulin response.
Aliv seeds (garden cress, halim): Soak all these seeds and have them with milk in the night. You roll these iron rich seeds into ladoos with coconut and ghee and have a ladoo every day for added benefits. They also protect hair loss caused due to chemotherapy.
Nutmeg: Add a small pinch to milk (along with Aliv seeds) and have it as a nightcap. The vitamin B6, folic acid and magnesium present in these seeds helps to prevent hair loss and distress.
Turmeric/haldi: Haldi doodh or turmeric milk is a magical home remedy for a cough and cold. So to reap its immune boosting properties and keep your tresses healthy, make sure you add a pinch of turmeric in your food.
