Buying the right hair brush for your hair type can be very confusing. All hair brushes are not the same, and they do different things for your hair. Here’s your guide to picking the right hair brush for your hair type from beauty and hair expert Janet Fernandez.
For straight hair: If your hair is straight and you need some volume through blow drying, you need to use a round, boar-bristle brush, which is usually much softer than the nylon ones and will prevent split ends.
For wavy hair: If your hair is wavy and you blow it dry, you will need a nylon-bristle brush. The wider the bristles, the straighter will be your hair when you dry it.
For curly hair: If your hair is extremely curly or thick, you need to use a wide tooth comb, so your hair won’t turn frizzy and still look tidy. You can use the comb in the shower even before you dry your hair to detangle curls.
For thick, long hair: If your hair is long and thick, use the paddle brush. It is ideal for all hair types especially for those whose hair is thick. It is a flat brush with plastic bristles covering its rounded edges.
For short hair: If your hair is short, a small round brush can be ideal. If you have a bob cut hair, it can keep your hair smooth and rounded at the edges.
