 You may have even heard that drinking green tea is an effective way to lose weight. So, is there any logic to this assumption? What are the other benefits of green tea?

Green tea has many ingredients in it such as caffeine, theobromine, saponins, theophylline, vitamins and epigallocatechin. The compound Epigallocatechin (EGCG) boosts your metabolic rate and reduces your appetite. All these compounds lead to thermogenesis which creates heat in the body in turn increasing your metabolic rate.

Drinking tea has been around for ages, but it is only in recent times that the real health benefits of drinking green tea have been explored.  The main health benefits come from the antioxidants that it contains.

      The correct way to make green tea is to boil water, add the tea leaves (about 1 teaspoon for one cup) into the water and turn off the heat (gas). Cover the vessel with a lid and allow the leaves to steep. After about five minute strain the tea and have it. You can add ginger or tulsi to the water while it is boiling for added benefits and flavour. If you prefer your tea to be sweet add a spoon of honey. You can also add lemon to the tea to make it more tasty.
      As for the benefits, green tea is more soothing if had warm. In its cold form it may not help you as much.
